Weather Srinagar: March 10, 2026 Update
Weather Update for Srinagar
On March 10, 2026, Srinagar and several other areas in Jammu and Kashmir were lashed by overnight rains, marking a significant shift in weather conditions. The Meteorological Centre Srinagar reported that the region is likely to witness generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall over higher reaches.
As the day progressed, the meteorological department predicted more precipitation over the next few days. Heavy rain is expected particularly over the plains of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora districts, while moderate to heavy snowfall is possible in higher reaches, including the Sonamarg-Zojila axis, Sinthan top, Sadhna top, Razdan top, and Peer ki Gali.
From March 10 to 11, generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall over higher reaches are anticipated. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 3.3 degrees Celsius, with day temperatures expected to fall by four to six degrees Celsius at many places after March 9.
Farmers in the region have been advised to suspend farm operations between March 10 and 12 due to the adverse weather conditions. The department has also issued an advisory warning of temporary traffic disruption over higher reaches and important mountain passes due to the expected snowfall.
Thunder and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph are possible at a few places between March 9 and 11, adding to the challenging weather conditions. The Meteorological Centre Srinagar emphasized the need for caution, stating, “The region is likely to witness generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall over higher reaches at many places.”
Looking ahead, the weather conditions are expected to improve from March 12 to 15, with generally dry weather and occasional cloudiness predicted. This change will be a relief for residents and farmers alike, who have been impacted by the recent adverse weather.
As the situation develops, it remains crucial for residents to stay informed about the weather forecasts and heed advisories issued by local authorities. The impact of these weather changes is significant for agriculture and transportation in the region, highlighting the importance of timely updates and preparedness.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the extent of the snowfall and its impact on local infrastructure. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and prepared for potential disruptions in the coming days.
