At present, Lt Gen Singh serves as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS), a role he has held since August 1, 2025. His extensive military career spans over 37 years, during which he has been involved in numerous operations, including Operation Pawan, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Rakshak, and Operation Orchid. His experience and leadership capabilities are expected to play a crucial role in his new position.
Successor to Lt Gen Katiyar
Lt Gen Singh will succeed Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, who is set to retire at the end of March 2026. Military Achievements
Commissioned into the 4th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) on December 19, 1987, Lt Gen Singh has built a commendable record throughout his service. He has received several accolades, including the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2025 for distinguished service, the Sena Medal in 2015, and a Bar to the Sena Medal in 2021. His contributions have been recognized multiple times, including once with the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card and twice with the Army Commander’s Commendation.
