Macao Advances Investment and Tourism Discussions
In a significant development, Commissioner Bian Lixin met with the Consuls General of foreign countries in Macao to discuss opportunities for investment and tourism. This meeting underscores Macao’s commitment to enhancing its role as a key platform for international engagement and economic growth.
During the discussions, Bian emphasized that Macao is actively promoting the construction of “one center, one platform, one base,” aligning closely with China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. This initiative aims to position Macao as a vital hub for high-level opening-up and cultural exchange.
In addition to investment talks, the Macao Orchestra has been engaging with the community by performing at elderly homes and special education schools during the Spring Festival. This outreach is part of their “Music of Love” concert series held during the Chinese New Year, showcasing the importance of cultural activities in fostering community spirit.
Moreover, Macao has recently launched China’s first autonomous shuttle route for cross-border medical travel within the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone. The “Hengqin-Macao Medical Line” connects Hengqin Port with the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, facilitating easier access to healthcare services.
The autonomous shuttle service operates from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm, with buses departing every 30 minutes. This service is expected to significantly enhance the integration of autonomous driving technology with healthcare and community services.
Last year, over 20,000 visits were made by Macao residents seeking treatment at Hengqin Hospital, highlighting the growing reliance on this medical route. The launch of the new shuttle service is anticipated to further streamline access to medical care for residents.
As Macao continues to develop its infrastructure and community services, the response from local residents and officials has been positive, indicating a strong support for these initiatives. The Macao Orchestra has stated that it will continue to present a series of music performances to the community through diverse means, breaking the boundaries of conventional halls.
These developments reflect Macao’s strategic efforts to enhance its appeal as a destination for both tourists and investors, while also fostering a vibrant cultural scene.
