As of March 12, 2026, a significant weather update has been issued for several major cities in India, including Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported unusually warm conditions, particularly in Delhi, where temperatures are expected to range from 29 to 38 degrees Celsius, significantly above normal for this time of year.

On March 11 and 12, Gujarat is predicted to experience heatwave to severe heatwave conditions, further contributing to the rising temperatures across the region. Central India is already feeling the effects, with temperatures in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region surpassing 40 degrees Celsius.

Hyderabad and Mumbai Updates

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature is forecasted to reach around 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be around 22 degrees Celsius. This rise in temperature is consistent with the overall trend of increasing heat across the country.

Meanwhile, Mumbai has also been affected by the heat. Vikhroli registered the highest maximum temperature at 36.9 degrees Celsius. The city recorded maximum temperatures of 34.0 degrees Celsius at Colaba and 34.2 degrees Celsius at Santacruz. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, predicting hot and humid weather conditions.

Recent Temperature Records

Notably, the maximum temperature recorded by the IMD Santacruz observatory was 40 degrees Celsius on March 10, 2026. This spike in temperature is alarming and poses potential health risks for residents, particularly vulnerable populations.
