2025: Sahitya Akademi Awards Announced
The Sahitya Akademi has announced the winners of the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2025, recognizing outstanding literary contributions across 24 Indian languages. This year’s awards feature a diverse range of genres, including poetry, novels, short stories, and essays.

In the Urdu category, Pritpal Singh Betab will be recognized for his poetry collection “Safar Jaari Hai”, showcasing his unique voice and thematic depth.
Devabrat Das will be awarded for his Assamese novel “Karhi Khelar Sadhu”, which has been noted for its exploration of regional narratives and cultural identity.
Additionally, Prasun Bandyopadhyay will receive recognition for his Bengali poetry collection “Shrestha Kabita”, celebrated for its lyrical quality and emotional resonance.
The awards were recommended by distinguished jury members and approved by the Competent Authority of the Sahitya Akademi. This process underscores the commitment to recognizing literary excellence in India.
