Bangladesh Cricket Board seeks media partners

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has initiated a process to secure media partners for its upcoming bilateral international home series involving the Bangladesh National Cricket Team (Men) during the 2026–27 period. The board has invited Expressions of Interest (EOIs) along with financial offers from various entities, including reputable television broadcasters, digital platforms, marketing agencies, consortiums, and firms. These entities are invited to bid for the worldwide media rights for these significant cricket events.

The tender documents specifically outline a series of high-profile tours scheduled to be hosted in Bangladesh. This move by the BCB aims to ensure comprehensive coverage and reach for these international fixtures, which are expected to draw considerable attention from cricket enthusiasts globally.

Key international tours on the horizon

Among the tours covered under this EOI, the India Team’s Tour of Bangladesh 2026 is prominently featured. This tour is slated to include three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), making it a significant white-ball series. Reports suggest that this tour, which was previously postponed, appears to be back on track following the BCB’s invitation for bids for media rights.

The tender documents also list other important series. The West Indies Team’s Tour of Bangladesh 2026 is scheduled to feature two Test matches. Following this, the England Team’s Tour of Bangladesh 2027 will also consist of two Test matches. Additionally, the Pakistan Team’s Tour of Bangladesh 2027 is planned to include five ODIs, adding another crucial white-ball contest to the schedule.

India’s tour: A rescheduled fixture

The India Team’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh has been a subject of discussion, with its initial scheduling for 2025 being postponed. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had confirmed earlier that the tour was deferred until September 2026. This postponement was a result of mutual consultation between the BCCI and the BCB, citing international cricket commitments and scheduling convenience.

The six-match white-ball series, comprising three ODIs and three T20Is, was originally intended to take place in the second half of August, with specific dates planned for the ODIs on August 17, 20, and 23, and the T20Is on August 26, 29, and 31. The cities of Mirpur and Chattogram were initially set to host all six matches. The recent media rights tender by the BCB has sparked renewed hope that this long-awaited series will indeed proceed as planned in 2026.

Speculation and official stance

While the BCB has issued the tender for media rights, neither the BCB nor the BCCI has officially commented on the reported progress or confirmed that the India Team’s tour will definitely go ahead. The tender document, however, explicitly mentions India’s tour among the series for which media rights are being sought, indicating a strong intention for the matches to take place.

The full EOI document became available at the BCB’s Dhaka office starting July 2, with interested parties required to submit their bids by July 22. This formal bidding process suggests a concrete step towards finalising the broadcast and digital media arrangements for these significant international home series in 2026 and 2027.
