PSG Triumphs Over Chelsea in UEFA Champions League Clash

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a commanding performance against Chelsea, winning 5-2 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 on March 11, 2026, at Parc des Princes Stadium in Paris.

Bradley Barcola opened the scoring for PSG early in the match, setting the tone for a high-octane encounter. Chelsea quickly responded, with Malo Gusto equalizing shortly after Barcola’s goal, but PSG regained control with Ousmane Dembele scoring their second goal.

Despite Chelsea’s efforts, PSG continued to dominate, showcasing their lethal attacking football. Enzo Fernandez managed to equalize for Chelsea in the 57th minute, but PSG’s relentless offense proved too much for the visitors.

PSG’s victory comes as they currently sit atop Ligue 1, boasting 18 wins in 25 games. However, prior to this match, they had only secured one win in their last five Champions League outings, raising questions about their form in European competitions.

Chelsea, on the other hand, faced challenges leading up to the match, having lost to Arsenal 2-1 and drawn 1-1 with Burnley in their recent fixtures. Estêvão missed the match due to a hamstring injury, and Levi Colwill was doubtful, impacting their squad depth.

The match was described as an absolute classic in the French capital, highlighting the attacking prowess of both teams. PSG’s ability to score five goals against a competitive Chelsea side underscores their offensive capabilities.

As the teams prepare for the second leg, observers are keen to see if Chelsea can bounce back from this defeat and how PSG will maintain their momentum in the Champions League.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the health of Chelsea’s Levi Colwill, who was doubtful for the match, and how this may affect their strategy moving forward.
