Alzarri Joseph to Miss West Indies Championship for PSL Participation

As the cricketing calendar heats up, Alzarri Joseph has been confirmed to miss the upcoming West Indies Championship season to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This decision comes at a time when Cricket West Indies (CWI) is focusing on managing the workload of its key fast bowlers, including Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Shamar Joseph.

CWI has outlined its strategy to ensure that these players maintain optimum fitness and performance levels ahead of a demanding international schedule. The West Indies will host Sri Lanka and Pakistan for two Test matches each as part of the ICC World Test Championship, and later in the year, they will engage in a five-game ODI series against New Zealand.

Miles Bascombe, CWI director, emphasized the importance of the fast bowlers, stating, “Our fast bowlers are among our most valuable assets, and this season demands the best of them across every format and every competition.” This highlights the critical role that players like Joseph play in the team’s overall strategy.

While Alzarri Joseph will be absent, Jayden Seales is set to be available for selection from April 9, and Shamar Joseph will be ready for competitive selection from April 13 for the West Indies Championship.
