GATE 2026: Key Dates and Updates
By Ananya Rao / 17.03.2026
The central question surrounding GATE 2026 is: when will the final answer key and results be available? The answer is that the final answer key is expected to be released around March 17–18, 2026, with the results scheduled for March 19, 2026.
GATE, or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is a national-level entrance examination for graduates in various fields such as engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, and arts. It serves as a crucial gateway for candidates seeking admission to prestigious institutes like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
As part of the examination process, candidates had the opportunity to raise objections to the provisional answer key from February 25 to February 28, 2026. This is a standard procedure that allows for transparency and fairness in the evaluation process.
Once the final answer key is published, candidates will be able to download it from the official GATE portal. They can also check their results through the GOAPS portal using their enrolment ID or email and password.
The GATE 2026 Rank Predictor is another useful tool for candidates, helping them estimate their rank based on expected marks. For instance, candidates scoring around 85 marks can expect to rank between 1 to 10, while those with approximately 50 marks may find themselves ranking around 1000 to 1500.
The scorecard for GATE 2026 will be valid for three years, providing candidates with ample time to utilize their scores for M.Tech admissions. The last date to apply for these admissions is set for March 26, 2026.
GATE remains the most important gateway to pursue an M.Tech from the country’s most prestigious institutes, making it essential for candidates to stay informed about these updates.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any changes to the examination format or additional announcements that may arise as the date approaches. Candidates are encouraged to regularly check the official GATE portal for the latest information.
