Complaint Filed Against Hardik Pandya

“I believe it is an insult to the national flag,” stated advocate Wajid Khan Bidkar, who has filed a complaint against Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya. The complaint alleges that Pandya disrespected the national flag during celebrations following India’s victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The incident reportedly occurred after India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, marking India’s third T20 World Cup title. Videos of the celebrations went viral on social media, showing Pandya dancing and lying down with the national flag wrapped around him.

Bidkar’s complaint was lodged at the Shivaji Nagar police station in Ahmedabad. He argues that Pandya’s actions violate the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, emphasizing that “the national flag is a symbol of the entire nation, and we can file a complaint here.”

According to Bidkar, “According to Section 2 of the 1971 National Flag Act, we should respect the dignity of the national flag.” His statements reflect a broader sentiment regarding the importance of the national flag and the respect it commands among citizens.

The police have confirmed the receipt of the application but have not provided further details on any potential action that may follow. Bidkar expressed his determination, saying, “Let’s see what happens next. I have filed the complaint.”

This complaint comes in the wake of India’s historic victory, which not only secured their third T20 World Cup title but also marked the first time the tournament was held on home soil. The significance of this win adds a layer of complexity to the situation, as the celebrations were meant to honor the team’s achievement.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the police’s next steps in this matter. The incident has sparked discussions about the responsibilities of public figures and the expectations surrounding national symbols.

As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how this complaint will unfold and what implications it may have for Pandya and his public image.
