London: India secures dominant 7-1 victory over Pakistan in FIH Pro League

The Indian Men’s Hockey Team delivered a powerful offensive display, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan 7-1 in the reverse fixture of their FIH Pro League London leg. The match took place at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Friday, June 26, 2026, where India showcased a commanding performance after initially falling behind.

Despite conceding an early goal in the first quarter, India responded with seven goals to secure all three points. The goals were scored by Sukhjeet Singh in the 20th minute, Harmanpreet Singh in the 26th minute, Hardik Singh in the 34th minute, Jugraj Singh in the 35th minute, Abhishek in the 41st minute, Raj Kumar Pal in the 44th minute, and Dilpreet Singh in the 54th minute. Midfielder Hardik Singh was recognized as the ‘Player of the Match’ for his control in the midfield.

First Half Action

Both teams started the match with high intensity. India earned the first penalty corner within the initial 90 seconds, following a quick baseline run by Mandeep Singh. Despite India’s high-tempo push, Pakistan’s counter-attacks led them to win a penalty corner in the 13th minute. Six minutes later, in the 26th minute, India secured another penalty corner. Harmanpreet smashed the ball directly into the top left corner, giving India a 2-1 lead as they headed into halftime. This period marked a significant shift in momentum, with India asserting their offensive capabilities.

Second Half Dominance

The ‘Men in Blue’ extended their dominance in the second half. In the 34th minute, India earned consecutive penalty corners, with the second resulting in a penalty stroke. Hardik Singh stepped up and calmly converted it, increasing India’s lead to 3-1. Pakistan quickly responded by winning two penalty corners, but the Indian defence successfully blocked both attempts, maintaining their advantage.

Following the block of Pakistan’s second penalty corner, India launched a rapid counter-attack. The ball found Dilpreet, who combined effectively with Sukhjeet before setting up Jugraj Singh. Jugraj then smashed the ball home in the 35th minute, extending India’s lead to 4-1. India’s frontline continued its relentless pressure, with Sukhjeet creating another opportunity in the 41st minute, passing to Abhishek, who scored on the run to make it 5-1.

Late in the third quarter, India earned four consecutive penalty corners. On the fourth attempt, Raj Kumar Pal reacted quickly to guide the rebound of Harmanpreet’s drag-flick into the open goal, further extending the lead to 6-1. India maintained their defensive discipline throughout the final quarter while continuing to seek additional scoring opportunities.

In the 54th minute, Dilpreet Singh concluded a well-executed move by scoring India’s seventh goal of the match, solidifying their lead. Pakistan earned back-to-back penalty corners in the closing minutes of the game, but veteran midfielder Manpreet Singh stood firm, blocking both attempts and securing a comprehensive 7-1 victory for India in the FIH Pro League fixture.
