The South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) confirmed Adams‘ death on July 11, describing the loss as devastating for his family, teammates, and the broader football community. The union highlighted his recent representation of South Africa at the World Cup, where he carried the hopes of the nation.

Adams began his professional career with Stellenbosch FC in 2020 before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns in January 2025. With Mamelodi Sundowns, he won league and African Champions League titles. During the 2026 World Cup, he featured in all three of South Africa‘s group games, starting in the 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic despite learning of his grandmother’s passing the day before.
