Jiri Lehecka Advances to Miami Open Semifinals
By Vikram Nair / 26.03.2026
Jiri Lehecka has reached the semifinals of the ATP Miami Masters, a significant achievement that underscores his rising status in professional tennis. Lehecka secured his spot in the semifinals by defeating Martin Landaluce with a score of 7-6(1), 7-5, in a match that lasted two hours.
This victory marks Lehecka’s second appearance in a Masters 1000 semifinal, having previously reached the semifinals in Madrid in 2024 before retiring due to injury. Currently ranked World No. 16, Lehecka’s performance in Miami has been bolstered by his dominant serving throughout the tournament.
Lehecka’s upcoming match against Arthur Fils is highly anticipated, especially considering their head-to-head record stands at 1-1. Fils, who is the youngest Frenchman to reach a Masters 1000 semifinal since Richard Gasquet in 2007, reached this stage after a dramatic victory over Tommy Paul, where he saved four match points.
Fils won that match with a score of 6-7(3), 7-6(4), 7-6(6), demonstrating remarkable resilience and skill. The match against Paul lasted two hours, showcasing Fils’ ability to perform under pressure.
Lehecka expressed confidence in his abilities, stating, “I have the weapons to challenge for the Miami Open title.” He acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying, “I knew what to expect,” indicating his preparedness for the upcoming match.
As both players prepare for their semifinal clash, analysts predict a closely contested match. Lehecka’s recent form and Fils’ youthful energy will make for an intriguing matchup.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact timing of their semifinal encounter, but the anticipation continues to build as fans eagerly await this showdown.
