Leeds United’s 3-1 victory over Burnley on May 1, 2026, at Elland Road secures their Premier League status. This win also marks a significant turnaround after a challenging season.

Leeds scored three goals while Burnley managed just one. Anton Stach opened the scoring in the 8th minute. Noah Okafor added a second goal in the 52nd minute. Dominic Calvert-Lewin sealed the win with a goal in the 56th minute. Loum Tchaouna scored a consolation goal for Burnley in the 71st minute.

With this victory, Leeds moved up to 14th in the Premier League table. They are now nine points clear of 18th-place Spurs with three matches remaining. Leeds had struggled earlier in the season, with a record of 6 wins, 11 draws, and 4 losses since December.

Daniel Farke, the manager of Leeds United, has guided the team through this relegation battle. After the match, Ethan Ampadu expressed confidence, saying, “We like to think we’ve put ourselves in a strong position with three games left.”

This match was particularly notable as Leeds had not beaten Burnley prior to this encounter. Supporters celebrated by chanting “we are staying up” after the final whistle.

Looking ahead, Burnley will host Aston Villa on May 10, 2026. Leeds will face Spurs on May 11, 2026.
