Liverpool’s Pursuit of Bradley Barcola

Liverpool is reportedly preparing a substantial bid for Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola. The chase for the France international has intensified since the conclusion of the World Cup earlier this month. While there are conflicting views on Barcola’s potential cost, widespread reports suggest PSG values him at €170m. However, it has been indicated that Liverpool aims to negotiate this fee down.

Sources indicate that Barcola, 23, has verbally agreed to join Liverpool. Despite this, a significant gap in valuation between the two clubs remains a hurdle for the move. RMC Sport in France reported that there is no possibility of Barcola extending his contract at PSG this summer, with his current terms set to expire in 2028. This suggests that Barcola is open to a move away from the French capital, with Liverpool believed to be his preferred destination.

The former Olympique Lyon winger is said to have already engaged in discussions with Andoni Iraola and senior officials at Anfield, which reportedly culminated in his agreement to join the club this summer. Liverpool is expected to submit a bid to Paris Saint-Germain worth an initial €110 million (£94 million) upfront. The proposed deal also includes performance-based bonuses, with an additional €20 million tied to domestic league success and a further €20 million linked to Champions League achievements, potentially bringing the total value to €150 million.

This potential total still falls short of PSG’s reported €170m valuation, with €40m not guaranteed for Luis Enrique’s side. Barcola is viewed as a long-term investment for Liverpool, intended to be a key player for the club’s future generation. While no agreement has been finalised, the scale of the offer suggests Liverpool is determined to complete the deal. With PSG now actively involved in negotiations, further developments could occur in the coming days.

Other Transfer Speculations

In other transfer news, Newcastle United sources have stated that the club is not in discussions with Arsenal regarding a deal to sell midfielder Bruno Guimaraes to the Gunners. The Tyneside club expects the Brazil international, 28, to rejoin training on Friday. This comes amidst ongoing transfer rumours surrounding several prominent players across Europe.

Real Madrid has no intentions of selling Brazil forward Vinicius Jr, 26, whose contract is set to expire next summer. The Spanish club is confident that he will agree to a new deal. Similarly, Bayern Munich has no plans to sell Colombia forward Luis Diaz, 29, despite reported interest from Al-Hilal. Diaz has informed the German champions of his desire to remain with the club.

Everton is reportedly seeking around £70m for Senegal winger Iliman Ndiaye, 26, who has attracted interest from Manchester United and Al-Hilal. Manchester United is also willing to allow Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, 25, to depart and is in talks with Juventus regarding a potential deal. Nottingham Forest is nearing a €40m (£34m) deal to sign Ivory Coast centre-back Ousmane Diomande, 22, from Sporting.

Additionally, Coventry City has agreed to a club-record deal worth an initial £22.5m to sign English goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, 25, from Brighton. Former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, 27, who left Ajax in the summer, is currently training with Crystal Palace, though no talks have taken place regarding the Japan international joining the Eagles. Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is finalising a loan move to Championship side Sheffield United after being excluded from his club’s pre-season tour squad list.

Barcola’s potential move to Liverpool could also prompt Ligue 1 champions PSG to try and sign Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, 19, from RB Leipzig, potentially ahead of Real Madrid.
