Manchester City F.C. Faces Challenges in Pursuit of Historic Quadruple
By Vikram Nair / 08.03.2026
Can Manchester City F.C. Achieve the Quadruple?
The central question surrounding Manchester City F.C. is whether they can achieve the historic quadruple, a feat no English team has ever accomplished. Currently, Manchester City is in a tight race with Arsenal, who are seven points ahead in the Premier League but have played one more game.
In the previous season, Manchester City secured the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League titles, showcasing their dominance in English and European football. However, their pursuit of the quadruple was hindered when they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Southampton in the quarter-finals.
Historically, the challenge of winning all four major trophies has proven to be insurmountable. Chelsea came close in the 2006-07 season but fell short in both the Premier League and Champions League. Meanwhile, Manchester United achieved a treble in the 2007-08 season but did not win the FA Cup.
Adding to their challenges, Pep Guardiola has been banned for two matches after receiving his sixth yellow card of the season. This suspension will prevent him from coaching during the Premier League fixture against West Ham and the FA Cup quarter-final. However, it does not affect his participation in the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.
Guardiola expressed the difficulty of achieving such a feat, stating, “It is almost impossible to achieve everything — that is the truth.” His commitment to defending his team remains strong, as he noted, “We have all the records in this country – all of them.”
As the season progresses, the pressure mounts on Manchester City to close the gap with Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp acknowledged the challenges teams face in such a competitive environment, remarking, “We love being in this situation. It’s incredibly tough — we play pretty much all the time.”
With the Carabao Cup final approaching, fans and analysts alike are keenly watching how Manchester City will navigate these challenges. The outcome of this match could significantly impact their morale and momentum as they strive for the quadruple.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full implications of Guardiola’s suspension on the team’s performance in the upcoming fixtures. As the season unfolds, the focus will remain on whether Manchester City can overcome these obstacles and make history.
