Nuggets vs Knicks: Jamal Murray Injured as Denver Falls

“He’s really sore. You guys all know Jamal. When he sprains his ankle he usually comes back and plays (quickly),” said Coach David Adelman regarding Jamal Murray’s condition after the game.

The Denver Nuggets suffered a significant defeat against the New York Knicks on March 6, 2026, losing 142-103 at Ball Arena in Denver. The game took a turn just before halftime when Murray, who had been an All-Star for the first time in his nine-year career, left the court with a left ankle injury.

At halftime, the Knicks held a commanding 65-42 lead, showcasing their offensive prowess. This victory follows their previous meeting on February 4, 2026, where the Knicks triumphed over the Nuggets 134-127 in double overtime.

The Nuggets, despite ranking first in the league for offensive rating (121.7) and points per game (120.4), struggled defensively, ranking 22nd in defensive rating and last in steals and opponent turnovers. Nikola Jokic, who averages 28.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game, was unable to turn the tide for his team.

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with an impressive performance, scoring 26.5 points per game this season and contributing significantly in their last meeting against the Nuggets with 42 points. The Knicks now hold a record of 40-23, while the Nuggets stand at 39-24.

Coach Adelman expressed frustration with the team’s injury situation, stating, “This has just been insane. Every time we get somebody back I feel like somebody else goes out.” This sentiment reflects the ongoing challenges the Nuggets face as they navigate player health.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact duration of Jamal Murray’s recovery. Additionally, the status of teammates Aaron Gordon, Cameron Johnson, and Spencer Jones remains unclear as they are listed as day-to-day, while Josh Hart’s status is questionable due to a back injury.

The Nuggets will need to regroup quickly as they look to bounce back from this defeat and address their injury concerns ahead of their next matchup.
