Richard Illingworth to officiate ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final

Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf will serve as the on-field umpires for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final, scheduled to take place on March 8, 2026, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This marks Richard Illingworth’s second consecutive ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final, having previously officiated in the final of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Illingworth has also been involved in high-stakes matches, including the finals of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

Alex Wharf, who will be officiating his first senior ICC World Cup final, has previously worked in the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. His experience will be crucial as he steps into this significant role.

The final will also see Allahuddien Paleker serving as the third umpire, while Adrian Holdstock will take on the role of fourth umpire. Andy Pycroft will act as the match referee for this prestigious event.

Paleker joined the ICC Elite Panel in March 2025 and has officiated in six matches during the tournament, showcasing his capabilities on the international stage.

Illingworth and Wharf previously officiated together in New Zealand’s semi-final victory over South Africa earlier in the tournament, highlighting their collaborative experience.

As the cricketing world looks forward to this final, the performance of the officiating team will be under scrutiny, given the high stakes involved.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional appointments or changes to the officiating team as the date approaches.
