Reports suggesting that Mohamed Salah was on the verge of joining Besiktas have been denied by his agent. The agent indicated that no decision has been made regarding the former Liverpool winger’s future. This comes amidst ongoing speculation about Salah’s next move after his departure from Anfield.
Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, addressed the widespread reports on social media. He stated that he personally does not know where Salah will play next season. Earlier, Abbas had also posted that discussions are not held with clubs that Salah would not want to play for, simply to create noise.
Salah concluded his nine-year tenure at Liverpool after agreeing to cancel his contract at the end of last season. During his time with the Reds, he achieved significant success, including winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and the Community Shield. He arrived at Liverpool from Roma in 2017.
Salah is one of only ten players to have been both the leading goalscorer and top assister for a club in the Premier League. He scored 191 goals in the competition. Salah has been frequently linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League in recent years, though reports suggest his financial demands have deterred some clubs.
European transfer market activity
In other transfer news, Bayern Munich has reportedly informed Real Madrid that France forward Michael Olise, 24, is not available for transfer this summer. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund and Germany attacker Karim Adeyemi, 24, is understood to be moving to Barcelona.
Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly engaged in a transfer battle for RB Leipzig and Netherlands defender Lutsharel Geertruida, 25, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland. Manchester City and Tottenham are said to be interested in Portuguese winger Francisco Trincao, 26, potentially intercepting his move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli from Sporting. Barcelona is also reportedly preparing to intensify their pursuit of Atletico Madrid and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, 26, following this summer’s World Cup.
Hull City has made a bid for Mjallby midfielder and Swedish World Cup star Elliot Stroud, 24. Manchester United is exploring options to sign two additional midfielders after finalising a deal for Chelsea and Brazil international Andrey Santos, 22. Greece centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, 28, is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs and other European teams after an impressive individual season with relegated West Ham.
Como is hoping to sign Colombia defender Davison Sanchez, 30, but may be deterred by Galatasaray’s asking price. Manchester United is also in search of a goalkeeper to provide competition for Belgian Senne Lammens, 24, and could consider Paraguay’s Orlando Gill, 26, who is understood to have a release clause at Argentine side San Lorenzo.

Newcastle United’s prospects of acquiring England goalkeeper James Trafford, 23, from Manchester City have reportedly improved, as Aston Villa, a potential rival for his signature, aims to retain their number one goalkeeper, Argentine Emiliano Martinez, 33. However, Chelsea is also reportedly interested in Trafford.
New Benfica boss Marco Silva is keen to sign his former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, 31. A bid is reportedly being prepared to secure the Portugal international from Bayern Munich, following his loan spell at Tottenham last season.
Salah recently led Egypt to the round of 16 at the World Cup, where they were defeated 3-2 by Argentina after holding a 2-0 lead until the 79th minute.
