South India will receive showers, with some areas facing heavy rainfall. Central and East India are also under a weather watch, indicating widespread adverse conditions across the country.

Extreme weather events are becoming more intense and frequent as the climate warms. AI models struggle to forecast record-breaking extreme weather events compared to traditional climate models. Recent findings show that AI models tend to underestimate both the frequency and intensity of these record-breaking events.

The IMD’s alerts come amid growing concerns about how extreme weather can disrupt daily life and government functions. Officials have not confirmed alternative plans for President Murmu’s visit.
