Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a review of the State Pragati Portal on April 1, 2023, in Dehradun, India. This initiative aims to monitor all significant State and Centrally sponsored schemes through the portal, ensuring that departments upload details of their major schemes promptly.

Bardhan directed all departments to upload their scheme details at the earliest to facilitate comprehensive oversight. The review comes as part of a broader push to enhance governance and service delivery in the region.

In addition to the portal review, CS Garvita Gaba recently resigned from her position as Company Secretary and Compliance Officer at Shri Krishna Prasadam Limited, effective February 16, 2026. Her resignation was attributed to marriage and personal reasons.

The Chief Secretary also emphasized the need to fast-track pending reforms under the D-BRAP-2025 initiative, which includes 154 reform points that all states and union territories are expected to implement.

Atal Dulloo, a key official involved in the reforms, underscored the significance of these changes in improving citizen welfare and fostering a conducive business environment across Jammu and Kashmir. He stated, “The pace of reforms must be sustained and tangible outcomes achieved without exception.”

The reforms aim to transform governance through digitisation, transparency, and time-bound service delivery. A real-time monitoring dashboard for service delivery has been developed in line with the guidelines set by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

All departments have been instructed to ensure 100 percent implementation of the prescribed reforms, with a focus on achieving measurable results. Bardhan’s review and directives reflect a commitment to enhancing the efficiency of government services.

As the State Pragati Portal evolves, it is expected to play a crucial role in the oversight and management of various schemes, thereby improving the overall governance framework.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full impact of these reforms and the subsequent changes in departmental operations.

What is Causing the Recent Temperature Surge?

Recent weather patterns have raised the question: why are temperatures in Uttarakhand and Telangana significantly above normal? In Uttarakhand, daytime temperatures have surged between 3°C and 10°C above normal in recent days, with maximum temperatures in Dehradun reaching 31°C, approximately 5°C above the seasonal average.

In Mukteshwar, the temperature peaked at 25.8°C, marking a notable increase of 10°C from what is typically expected for this time of year. Similarly, New Tehri recorded a maximum temperature of 22.6°C, which is about 3°C above normal.

Comparative Temperatures in Telangana

The situation is mirrored in Telangana, where the maximum temperature soared to 39°C on March 5, 2026. This rise is consistent with the region’s typical summer temperatures, which often approach 40°C.

In Hyderabad, the temperature reached 37°C in Asifnagar, further illustrating the widespread heat across the region. These elevated temperatures have raised concerns among residents and meteorologists alike.

Looking Ahead: Weather Forecasts

According to meteorologist CS Tomar, “We are expecting two to three spells of rain and thunderstorms between March 8 and March 16, with peak activity likely between March 12 and March 15.” This forecast may provide some relief from the ongoing heat.

Tomar also noted that while temperatures have been above normal, they have now stabilized and are not expected to rise further. This stabilization comes as a relief to many, but the unusual warmth has prompted discussions about the broader implications of climate change.

Context and Implications

The rising temperatures in these regions are not isolated incidents but part of a larger trend influenced by various climatic factors. Tropical cyclones, for instance, are known to be affected by temperature biases at the tropopause, which can alter weather patterns significantly.

As these weather events unfold, the impact on local ecosystems and communities remains a critical area of concern. The full extent of these temperature changes and their long-term implications is still being studied, and details remain unconfirmed.
