Ola Electric Mobility Ltd, once a dominant player in the electric two-wheeler market, has faced a series of challenges that have significantly impacted its share price. Following its initial public offering (IPO), the company held a commanding 30-35% share of the market. However, by early 2026, this position had deteriorated, with Ola’s market share falling to under 6%, placing it in fifth position among competitors. This decline was not only a reflection of increased competition but also of internal operational challenges that the company has struggled to overcome.

On April 13, 2026, Ola Electric’s stock opened at ₹39.79, marking a 2.67% decrease from the previous close of ₹40.88. The situation worsened throughout the day, as the stock hit an intraday low of ₹37.96, representing a sharp 7.14% decline from the prior day’s close. By 09:44:02, the last traded price stood at ₹38.79, indicating a 5.62% drop on the day. This downward trend in share price has raised concerns among investors and analysts alike.

Despite the decline in stock price, there was a notable increase in investor participation. On April 10, 2026, delivery volume surged to 9.72 crore shares, a remarkable 77.63% rise compared to the five-day average. This uptick in trading activity suggests that while some investors may be selling off shares due to the declining price, others are seizing the opportunity to buy at what they perceive to be a lower price point. However, the overall sentiment remains cautious as the company grapples with its financial performance.

In terms of financial metrics, Ola Electric’s gross margins improved to 34.3% in Q3 FY26, a positive sign compared to 25.8% and 30.9% in the previous two quarters. However, this improvement comes amid a backdrop of declining deliveries, which fell to 32,680 units in the same quarter, down from 84,000 units in the previous year. The company’s EBITDA margin stood at -68.7%, indicating ongoing financial strain despite some operational improvements.

Ola’s consolidated quarterly operating expenses were reported at ₹484 crore in Q3 FY26, a decrease from ₹840 crore in Q4 FY25. This reduction in expenses may reflect the company’s efforts to streamline operations in response to its declining market position. Nevertheless, the significant drop in deliveries and market share raises questions about the sustainability of these cost-cutting measures.

Expert opinions on the current situation highlight the precarious nature of Ola Electric’s position in the market. Analysts note that while the company has made strides in improving certain financial metrics, the overall decline in market share and sales volume poses a serious risk to its long-term viability. The Mojo Score for Ola Electric stands at 14.0, with a Mojo Grade of Strong Sell, further underscoring the negative sentiment surrounding the stock.

As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, Ola Electric’s future performance remains uncertain. The recent price declines and fundamental challenges suggest that the company will need to implement significant strategic changes to regain its competitive edge. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the company’s plans to address these issues, leaving investors and market observers in a state of watchful anticipation.

Ola Electric's share price has faced significant fluctuations, dropping over 7% on April 13, 2026, after a brief rise earlier in the month.

The post Ola Electric Share Price Experiences Volatility Amidst Market Challenges appeared first on newscri.

Ola Electric Mobility Ltd has been navigating a turbulent period in the stock market, particularly evident on April 13, 2026, when shares tumbled over 7%. This decline follows a brief rise of over 6% just two days prior, on April 11, 2026, highlighting the volatility surrounding the company’s stock.

Recent financial reports indicate that Ola Electric’s deliveries fell sharply to 32,680 units in the third quarter of FY26, a significant decrease from 84,000 units during the same period last year. This downturn is compounded by a revenue drop to ₹470 crore in Q3 FY26, nearly half of what it was a year ago.

Market analysts note that Ola Electric’s market share has dwindled to under 6%, a stark contrast to the 30–35% share it held after its IPO. The company had initially guided for over 3.25 lakh units in sales for FY26 but has managed only about 1.5 lakh units in the first nine months.

Despite the challenges, there are some positive indicators. Gross margins in Q3 FY26 improved to 34.3%, up from 25.8% and 30.9% in the previous two quarters. However, the company’s EBITDA margin remains concerning at -68.7%.

Industry experts are closely watching these developments. A Mumbai-based auto sector analyst remarked, “Battery innovation is critical for EV margins, and this development signals strategic intent.” Meanwhile, a dealer at a domestic brokerage firm noted, “The rebound is not just technical; it’s backed by improving fundamentals and sentiment.”

As Ola Electric continues to face profitability concerns, the ability to sustain its recent stock price rally remains uncertain. Additionally, the impact of new LFP battery technology on overall performance and market acceptance is still to be determined.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding how the company plans to address these challenges and regain its market position. Investors and stakeholders will be keenly observing Ola Electric’s next moves as the electric vehicle market evolves.

In a significant development, US intelligence reports indicate that China is preparing to deliver new air defense systems to Iran. This transfer, which includes shoulder-fired anti-air missile systems known as MANPADs, has raised alarms in Washington.

According to sources, the potential delivery of these military systems could exacerbate tensions in the already volatile Middle East. Former President Donald Trump has warned that if China proceeds with the shipment, it will face severe consequences, stating, “If China does that, China will have big problems, OK?” This statement underscores the US’s concern over China’s military support to Iran.

However, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington has refuted these claims, asserting that China has never provided weapons to any party involved in the conflict. This denial raises questions about the accuracy of the US intelligence reports.

In a separate but noteworthy event, Hyundai Motor Company recently launched its all-electric IONIQ lineup brand in China, unveiling two design concept cars at the launch event in Beijing. This move reflects Hyundai’s commitment to the Chinese market and its strategy to cater to local consumer preferences.

Hyundai’s Li Fenggang emphasized the company’s dedication, stating, “Starting with the two concept cars unveiled today, we will continue to present products that reflect deep insight into Chinese customers and our genuine commitment to this market.” This launch comes at a time when the automotive industry is increasingly focused on electric vehicles.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen Group is also making strides in China with its ‘In China, for China’ strategy, which includes a product campaign for smart electric vehicles. At Auto China 2026 in Beijing, Volkswagen showcased four world premieres, highlighting its commitment to innovation and adaptation to the Chinese market.

China has long maintained established military and economic relationships with both Iran and Russia, which adds complexity to the current situation. As the international community watches closely, the implications of China’s potential military support to Iran could have far-reaching consequences for regional stability.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding whether the air defense system used to hit the F-15 jet was of Chinese manufacture. This uncertainty adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing discussions surrounding China’s role in the Middle East.

The upcoming Tata Sierra EV is poised to make a significant impact on the electric vehicle market when it launches in mid-2026, between April and June. With an expected price range of ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), the Sierra EV aims to attract a diverse customer base, particularly those looking for a blend of nostalgia and modern technology.

Built on Tata’s Acti.ev (Gen 2) platform, the Sierra EV is designed to compete with mid-size electric SUVs from various brands. This strategic positioning is crucial as the demand for electric vehicles continues to surge, driven by increasing environmental awareness and government incentives for electric mobility.

The Sierra EV will offer battery pack options estimated between 55 kWh and 75 kWh, providing a driving range of approximately 400 to 500 kilometers per charge. This range is competitive within the current market, addressing consumer concerns about electric vehicle range anxiety. Additionally, the vehicle is expected to support fast charging technology, further enhancing its appeal.

In terms of design, the Sierra EV is set to feature a signature wraparound rear glass panel and full-width LED light bars, which are expected to resonate with consumers familiar with the original Tata Sierra from the 1990s. The interior is anticipated to include a multi-screen dashboard setup and connected car technology, aligning with modern consumer expectations for digital integration.

Safety is also a priority for the Sierra EV, with expected features including Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and multiple airbags, enhancing the overall safety profile of the vehicle. The inclusion of these features reflects Tata’s commitment to providing a secure driving experience.

The Sierra EV is currently in its final stages before launch, with prototypes spotted during testing, indicating that Tata Motors is on track for its anticipated release. The vehicle aims to blend nostalgic design elements with cutting-edge electric technology, appealing to both older and newer generations of consumers.

As the launch date approaches, details remain unconfirmed regarding specific features and final pricing. However, the excitement surrounding the Sierra EV suggests it could play a pivotal role in Tata Motors’ strategy to dominate the electric SUV segment in India and beyond.

The Supreme Court has criticized the West Bengal Government for its delays in the Orange Line Metro project in Kolkata, emphasizing the significant impact on public transportation in the region. The project, which connects New Garia to Salt Lake Sector V, has been stalled, prompting the court to describe the state’s attitude as ‘obstinate’.

This intervention from the Supreme Court highlights ongoing issues with public infrastructure projects in West Bengal, raising questions about the management and execution of such vital initiatives.

In a related development, the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) conducted a study titled ‘Accelerating Net Zero Transition of Public Transportation in Kolkata’. This study identifies optimal locations for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the city.

The TERI study assesses the energy and infrastructure needs for electric vehicles, presenting a decarbonization roadmap for Kolkata’s public transport system through 2050. This roadmap outlines strategies aimed at reducing emissions and integrating renewable energy sources into the city’s transportation framework.

The findings from the study are crucial as they not only address the immediate needs of public transport but also align with broader environmental goals. The roadmap could significantly influence the future of transportation in Kolkata, especially as the city seeks to modernize its infrastructure.

As the Supreme Court continues to monitor the situation regarding the Orange Line Metro project, the West Bengal Government faces mounting pressure to expedite the project’s completion. The delays have raised concerns among residents and stakeholders about the reliability and efficiency of public transport in the city.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the timeline for the project’s resumption and completion, as well as how the state government plans to address the Supreme Court’s concerns.

With the growing emphasis on sustainable transportation solutions, the outcomes of both the Supreme Court’s intervention and the TERI study will be pivotal in shaping the future of Kolkata’s public transport system.

Ola Electric has called for #EndICEAge amid an oil shock brought on by the Iran war. The company has launched the ‘EndICEAge’ campaign, which offers electric scooters and motorcycles starting at ₹49,999. This initiative comes at a critical time as Ola Electric’s EV sales in February 2026 fell to their lowest since the company was listed in August 2024.

The ‘EndICEAge’ campaign includes benefits totaling up to ₹50,000, which encompass service guarantees and assured buyback schemes. The buyback guarantee promises an assured buyback value of up to 60% on its electric vehicles, aiming to attract more customers during a challenging period for the EV market.

The starting price for the Gen 3 S1 X (2kWh) and Roadster X (2.5 kWh) is set at ₹49,999, making it more accessible for potential buyers. Additionally, Ola Electric offers an extended warranty of eight years as standard for its S1 scooters and Roadster motorcycles, further enhancing the appeal of its products.

Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO of Ola Electric, emphasized the importance of transitioning to electric vehicles, stating, “Rising fuel prices and the current geopolitical situation are clear reminders of why India must accelerate its journey towards energy independence.” He further added, “Every EV on the road reduces our dependence on imported oil,” highlighting the broader implications of adopting electric mobility.

In light of the recent sales decline, Aggarwal asserted, “We are going to do whatever it takes to accelerate India’s move beyond ICE!” This statement reflects the company’s commitment to overcoming current market challenges and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.

The offer associated with the ‘EndICEAge’ campaign is valid until March 31, 2026, providing consumers with a limited-time opportunity to invest in electric mobility. As the largest electric two-wheeler maker in India, Ola Electric aims to leverage this campaign to regain momentum in the market.

Observers are closely monitoring how this campaign will impact sales and whether it will successfully encourage more consumers to switch to electric vehicles. The future of Ola Electric’s market position may depend on the effectiveness of this initiative in a competitive landscape.

The wider picture

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has been a significant player in the Indian energy sector, operating more than 24,400 fuel stations nationwide. As the world shifts towards sustainable energy solutions, HPCL has also taken steps to adapt to this change. The company has deployed over 5,400 EV charging stations under its HP e‑Charge network, reflecting its commitment to supporting the growing electric vehicle (EV) market in India.

In a recent development, HPCL announced a partnership with Charge_iN, a product by Mahindra, aimed at accelerating the adoption of e-mobility in the country. This collaboration will see the installation of 180 kW dual-gun chargers at HPCL fuel stations, enhancing the infrastructure necessary for electric vehicles and making it more convenient for consumers to charge their EVs.

Despite these advancements, HPCL’s stock has faced challenges in the market. Recently, the stock hit an intraday low of Rs 318.6, marking a 5.25% decline. Over the past day, HPCL’s stock has decreased by 5.01%, in contrast to a 2.42% drop in the Sensex, indicating a more significant downturn for the company compared to the broader market.

Year-to-date, HPCL’s stock has seen a decline of 35.99%, raising concerns among investors. However, it is worth noting that HPCL has a dividend yield of 4.59%, which may provide some reassurance to shareholders amidst the stock’s volatility. Over a three-year period, HPCL’s stock has outperformed the Sensex, achieving gains of 99.40%.

Observers are closely monitoring the impact of HPCL’s partnership with Charge_iN on its market performance and the broader EV landscape in India. The collaboration is expected to enhance the availability of charging infrastructure, which is crucial for the growth of electric vehicles in the country. As more consumers shift towards electric mobility, HPCL’s strategic moves may play a significant role in shaping the future of transportation in India.

As HPCL continues to expand its EV charging network, the company faces the dual challenge of improving its stock performance while also meeting the increasing demand for sustainable energy solutions. The partnership with Charge_iN is seen as a proactive step in addressing both these challenges, potentially positioning HPCL as a leader in the e-mobility sector.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific timeline for the installation of the new chargers, but industry experts believe that this initiative could significantly influence consumer behavior towards electric vehicles. The collaboration is anticipated to not only bolster HPCL’s market presence but also contribute to India’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable energy practices.

The Technology Development Board (TDB) has signed an agreement with InfinityX Innovations Private Limited to develop automated battery swapping infrastructure in Telangana, a move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of electric mobility operations. This initiative will create automated, IoT-enabled battery swapping stations that can facilitate a complete battery swap in under 40 seconds.

Shri Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary of TDB, emphasized the importance of this project, stating, “Accelerating the deployment of efficient and scalable charging alternatives is critical for the growth of India’s electric mobility ecosystem.” The development of a standardized and interoperable battery swapping network is expected to significantly contribute to the electric vehicle (EV) landscape in India.

In addition to this technological advancement, the Telangana government is implementing a first-of-its-kind initiative to offer discounts of up to 20% on electric two- and four-wheelers for state government employees. This discount could lead to savings of up to Rs 4 lakh per employee for approximately 5 lakh government employees across the state.

The initiative reflects a broader trend in the electric vehicle market, where countries like Germany and France reported battery electric vehicle (BEV) market shares of 22% and 27%, respectively, in early 2026. Denmark also saw a remarkable increase, with a 17 percentage point rise in BEV market share compared to the previous year.

Ola Electric, Mahindra Electric, Gravton Motors, and Ather Energy are among the companies that could benefit from the enhanced infrastructure and government support, potentially leading to increased adoption of electric vehicles in the region.

The focus on reducing battery transition time to under 40 seconds positions electric vehicle energy replenishment to be comparable to conventional refueling, making EVs more appealing to consumers.

As the initiative progresses, observers will be keen to see how the battery swapping technology is integrated into the existing electric mobility framework in Telangana and its impact on the overall adoption of electric vehicles in India.

The Maharashtra government has revoked Uber's provisional bike taxi licenses, citing regulatory violations and complaints of harassment against women riders.

“We directed them to submit necessary documents; however they did not submit any of them, prompting us to take a decision to revoke their temporary licenses across Maharashtra,” said Pratap Sarnaik, a key official in the Maharashtra government.

On March 9, 2026, the Maharashtra government took decisive action by revoking the provisional bike taxi licenses for Uber, Ola, and Rapido. This decision was rooted in regulatory violations, including the failure of these companies to submit necessary documentation and a series of complaints regarding the harassment of women riders using their services.

The provisional licenses had been granted in September 2025 under the Maharashtra E-Bike Taxi Rules, 2024, which mandated that all operations be conducted using 100% electric vehicles. These rules were introduced to promote sustainable transportation and create employment opportunities for local youth. However, the state government found that the companies had not complied with the requirements set forth in these regulations.

In addition to the documentation issues, the state received multiple complaints alleging harassment of women passengers, which further exacerbated the situation. The licenses had provided the platforms with a 30-day window to obtain final approval and meet all regulatory conditions, but the lack of compliance led to the current revocation.

This marks the second time that bike taxi services have been banned in Maharashtra, with the first prohibition occurring in January 2023. The state had previously introduced the Maharashtra E-Bike Taxi Rules in an effort to regulate the burgeoning bike taxi market, which had seen an increase in the number of autorickshaws and growing pressure on urban traffic.

“If they have not furnished the documents, their temporary licenses must be revoked,” Sarnaik added, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring compliance with safety measures and operational standards. The provisional licenses required operators to adhere to strict codes regarding driver conduct, vehicle specifications, fare transparency, and overall accountability.

Since April 2024, the Maharashtra transport department has taken action against 130 bike taxis, collecting fines totaling more than Rs 33 lakh. This ongoing scrutiny reflects the government’s focus on maintaining safety and regulatory compliance in the rapidly evolving transport sector.

Looking ahead, the state government has indicated that the ban could be lifted if the companies submit the required documents and demonstrate strict adherence to the established rules. “It is only temporary. If they follow our norms and the terms and conditions of the permits, we will give the permits again,” Sarnaik stated, leaving the door open for potential reinstatement of the licenses in the future.
