The Delhi Traffic Police has announced a traffic advisory in anticipation of the Navratri festival, which will take place from March 19 to March 27, 2026. This advisory highlights that traffic movement across the city is likely to be significantly affected between 7 am and 11 pm during this period.

Heavy footfall is expected around key religious sites, particularly Jhandewalan Temple and Kalkaji Mandir, leading to congestion on major roadways. Authorities have indicated that traffic may be particularly slow on Rani Jhansi Road and Desh Bandhu Gupta Road near Jhandewalan Temple.

In the Kalkaji area, congestion is anticipated on the Outer Ring Road from the Chirag Delhi/Savitri Cinema flyover to the Modi Mill flyover. To mitigate the impact of the expected crowds, parking restrictions will be enforced around Jhandewalan Mandir and on the Outer Ring Road between Nehru Place and Modi Mill flyover.

Additionally, the movement of heavy goods vehicles will be restricted around Kalkaji during peak congestion hours. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes, with those heading towards Central Delhi and Karol Bagh recommended to take Faiz Road.

For those traveling to ISBT Kashmere Gate, taking Panchkuian Road is advised to avoid bottlenecks. The Traffic Police have also emphasized that illegal parking around temple areas will not be tolerated, and violators will face action under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Authorities have requested the public to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed on the ground. Commuters have been specifically advised to avoid the Outer Ring Road between Chirag Delhi, Savitri Cinema Flyover, and Modi Mill Flyover.

Pedestrians visiting Kalkaji Temple are urged to use foot overbridges and designated pathways to ensure safety amid heavy crowd movement. The advisory aims to facilitate smoother traffic flow and enhance safety during the festival.

As the festival approaches, the Delhi Traffic Police continues to monitor the situation closely and may implement traffic diversions as necessary, depending on real-time conditions.
