STMicroelectronics has begun delivering STM32 microcontrollers in China, marking a significant milestone in local semiconductor manufacturing. The first batch of these microcontrollers has been fully produced locally, showcasing the company’s commitment to enhancing its supply chain within the region.

The localization of STM32 MCU manufacturing starts with the high-performance STM32H7 series, utilizing advanced 40nm technology. Mass production of these microcontrollers manufactured in China has officially commenced, and STMicroelectronics has established a fully localized STM32 supply chain in the country.

The STM32 product portfolio is renowned for its versatility, including high performance, low power consumption, real-time control, DSP, and connectivity features. These microcontrollers are widely utilized across various sectors, including industrial systems, home appliances, industrial automation, motor control, medical devices, and consumer electronics.

Henry Cao, a representative from STMicroelectronics, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Bringing STM32 MCUs to mass production in China is a core commitment of ST to its Chinese customers.” This move not only strengthens STMicroelectronics’ position in the market but also reflects the growing demand for localized semiconductor solutions.

Furthermore, STMicroelectronics anticipates that its revenue related to data centers will “far exceed” $1 billion next year, highlighting the company’s strategic focus on expanding its footprint in this critical sector.

As of now, STMicroelectronics collaborates with approximately 200,000 customers and employs around 48,000 creators and makers, underscoring its extensive reach and influence in the semiconductor industry.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the planned mass production of additional STM32 families, which is expected to begin in 2026. However, the current developments signal a robust future for STMicroelectronics in the Chinese market.

STMicroelectronics has become the industry’s first global semiconductor company to establish a dual supply chain, further solidifying its leadership in the sector.
