Indian rapper Badshah is currently under investigation following the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against him for his song “Tateeree”. The FIR cites violations under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

The song has come under fire for allegedly depicting minor girls in school uniforms throwing their school bags and running away from studies, a portrayal that has drawn significant backlash. In response to the controversy, the Haryana Education Minister condemned the video, stating, “The depiction of school girls in the song and the manner our culture is shown in it is condemnable,” highlighting the cultural sensitivities involved.

As part of the investigation, the Haryana Police have initiated the process of issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia, to prevent him from leaving the country. Police teams are actively conducting raids to locate and arrest him.

In light of the backlash, Badshah issued a public apology, stating, “I belong to Haryana, and I had no intention to speak indecently about any woman or children.” He further expressed remorse, saying, “If anyone is hurt, I seek apology. I expect that you will forgive me by considering me the son of Haryana.”

The Haryana State Commission for Women has summoned Badshah to appear on March 13, as part of their inquiry into the matter. Additionally, two FIRs have been triggered by the song’s content, one by the cybercrime police and another by Jind Police.

The police have also removed the song from YouTube and are working to take it down from other platforms, indicating the seriousness of the allegations. Furthermore, the Haryana Roadways bus featured in the video is under investigation for not having the proper permissions for its use during filming.
