Severe Server Issues Impact WBIFMS Portal

A severe server issue on the WBIFMS portal has caused major concerns for state government employees of West Bengal. As of March 12, 2026, users are encountering error messages such as ‘503 Service Unavailable’ and ‘404 Page not found’, disrupting their ability to complete essential tasks.

The Finance Department of the Government of West Bengal has set a deadline for the preparation of e-Service Books by March 20. Employees are required to upload scanned copies of their physical service books onto the portal and fill in the necessary details online. However, the ongoing server outage has made it practically impossible to meet this deadline.

March is traditionally a hectic month for government offices, coinciding with the financial year-end, which adds to the urgency of the situation. The workload for employees is significantly increased during this period, further complicating their ability to navigate the current technical difficulties.

There are strong demands from employees and various stakeholders to extend the deadline for uploading and completing the e-Service Books. Many believe that completing the process within the stipulated date is unrealistic if the portal does not stabilize quickly.

One employee expressed frustration, stating, “The normal functioning of government offices is severely disrupted.” This sentiment is echoed across the workforce, as the server issues continue to hinder their operations.

Given this situation, strong demands are emerging from various quarters to extend the deadline. Employees are urging the government to consider the challenges posed by the server issues and the increased workload during this critical time.

The Finance Department has yet to respond officially to these requests for an extension. As the deadline approaches, the pressure on employees continues to mount, with many hoping for a swift resolution to the portal’s issues.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the timeline for resolving the server problems. The situation remains fluid, and employees are anxiously awaiting updates from the government.
