TTD Updates: Legal Challenges and Temple Projects
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is facing significant developments as it navigates legal challenges and announces new projects. Most notably, Meta Platforms has moved the Delhi High Court against a ₹10 lakh fine imposed by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA). This fine stems from the CCPA’s finding that Facebook Marketplace violated laws by allowing listings of walkie-talkies.
In a separate but equally important announcement, TTD has revealed its schedule for online booking of darshan, seva, and accommodation tickets for June 2026. The release of darshan tickets is set to begin on March 18, 2026, marking a key date for devotees planning their visits.
Additionally, TTD has approved a significant project for the installation of a gold-plated armor for the presiding deity at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple located in Ulwe, Mumbai. The total cost of this ambitious project is estimated at ₹5.12 crore, utilizing nearly three kilograms of 24-carat gold from the TTD treasury.
These initiatives reflect TTD’s commitment to maintaining the spiritual grandeur and traditions associated with Tirumala temples, even as they expand their influence to other locations. Jeff Green, co-founder of The Trade Desk, emphasized the importance of transparency in their operations, stating, “When Dave Pickles and I started TTD, we wanted to create a platform that was more transparent and more aligned with buyers.”
As TTD continues to evolve, the implications of the ongoing legal battle with Meta Platforms remain to be seen. The CCPA’s order, issued on January 1, regarding Facebook Marketplace violations, has raised questions about the future of online listings and consumer protection.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the potential outcomes of the court case, but the developments surrounding TTD’s projects and ticketing are clear indicators of the organization’s ongoing efforts to enhance its offerings to devotees.
