What strategies is Sanjay Bangar advocating for the Punjab Kings as they prepare for IPL 2026? Bangar has urged the team to include Harpreet Brar in every match, highlighting his significant contributions and potential impact on the squad.

Harpreet Brar has been a valuable player for the Punjab Kings, having played 49 matches since 2019 and taking 35 wickets at an average of 31.00. His performance last season was particularly impressive, where he took 10 wickets in just 8 matches, averaging 19.00 with an economy rate of 8.63.

Bangar noted Brar’s best figures in the IPL are 3/22, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure. In addition to his IPL success, Brar has excelled in domestic cricket, claiming 23 wickets in 4 Ranji Trophy matches at an average of 21.26 and 15 wickets in 9 matches during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at an average of 15.73.

Alongside Brar, Bangar emphasized the importance of the opening partnership between Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. Arya scored 475 runs in 17 innings at a strike rate exceeding 179 last season, while Singh amassed 549 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate over 160.

Bangar expressed confidence in the team’s composition, stating, “What a find he was for Punjab Kings,” referring to Brar’s contributions. He also mentioned the need for the team to avoid relying solely on match-ups for player selections, indicating that confidence in a player’s abilities is crucial.

In discussing the role of Yuzvendra Chahal, Bangar remarked, “I do not think there’s pressure on Yuzi as such because he bowls in the middle overs.” He acknowledged that if Chahal starts the season well, it would mitigate concerns about the opening combination.

The Punjab Kings squad for IPL 2026 consists of 20 players, and with Bangar’s insights, the team is looking to strengthen its lineup. As the season approaches, the focus will be on how these strategies will unfold on the field.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional changes to the squad or strategies as the IPL season draws near.
