A Pakistani terrorist was killed during a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Uri on March 15, 2026. The operation was initiated following specific intelligence input regarding an infiltration attempt in the area.

When challenged by the security forces, the terrorist opened indiscriminate fire, leading to an exchange of fire in which the terrorist was eliminated. Authorities recovered an AK rifle, pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition from the scene.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts to counter infiltration attempts along the Line of Control, a persistent security concern in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a related incident, a marine commando from the MARCOS unit was critically injured during a rescue operation in the Jhelum River in Uri. The rescue was launched after a woman jumped into the river, prompting immediate action from the security forces.

The injured MARCOS personnel, identified as A.S. Badoria, was subsequently shifted to an army hospital for treatment.

Er Rashid, a local politician, has raised issues in Parliament regarding the realignment of the Baramulla–Uri railway line, highlighting ongoing concerns about infrastructure and security in the region.

Rashid also condemned the government for sealing Jamia Masjid Srinagar and restricting prayers there, reflecting the tensions that persist in the area.

In another statement, he expressed gratitude for the release of Sonam Wangchuk but questioned the sudden nationalist sentiments of Chinese and Pakistani agents.

The situation in Uri remains tense as authorities continue to address security challenges while managing local grievances.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the broader implications of these incidents on regional security dynamics.
