BITS Pilani has achieved a notable ranking of 45 in Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the QS Subject Rankings 2026. This ranking highlights the institution’s growing reputation in the field of higher education.

In a broader context, India secured a total of 27 top-50 positions across 12 institutions in the same rankings, showcasing a significant improvement in the country’s educational standing on the global stage.

Among the institutions, IIT Delhi led with six entries in the top-50, reflecting its strong performance across various subjects. Additionally, India added 20 new institutions to the QS Subject Rankings in 2026, bringing the total number of ranked universities in the country to 99.

Furthermore, a total of 265 subject entries from India improved their positions, indicating a positive trend in academic excellence.

However, the news from BITS Pilani is bittersweet, as the institution mourns the loss of student Karan Narsimha Murthy, who tragically died in a road accident. The accident occurred when his motorcycle collided with an empty fuel tanker.

Murthy was a student at the KK Birla Goa campus of BITS Pilani, located in Zuarinagar, Sancoale. His untimely death has cast a shadow over the recent achievements of the institution.

As BITS Pilani celebrates its ranking, the community is also reflecting on the impact of this loss. Observers expect that the institution will continue to build on its academic successes while supporting its students and their families during this difficult time.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any memorials or tributes planned for Murthy, as the institution processes this tragic event.
