next gen toyota fortuner updates — IN news

What the data shows

The central question surrounding the next generation of the Toyota Fortuner is how it will adapt to the growing demand for 7-seater vehicles in the Indian market. In response, Toyota is preparing to launch a 7-seater version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which is expected to hit the Indian market by late 2026.

The new 7-seater Hyryder will feature a longer wheelbase and slightly revised dimensions compared to its 5-seater counterpart. This change is part of Toyota’s strategy to cater to families and consumers looking for more spacious options in the rapidly growing SUV segment.

In terms of performance, the expected powertrain options for the Hyryder 7-seater include a 1.5-litre petrol engine equipped with mild-hybrid technology, as well as a 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine. The strong hybrid variant is anticipated to deliver impressive fuel efficiency, estimated at around 25–26 kmpl, making it an attractive option for eco-conscious consumers.

The pricing for the Toyota Hyryder 7-seater is projected to fall between ₹15 lakh and ₹25 lakh, positioning it competitively within the market. Potential competitors include the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater, all vying for a share of the growing demand for larger SUVs.

Safety features are also a priority for the new model, with expectations of including six airbags, ABS with EBD, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in higher trims. These features are increasingly becoming standard in the SUV segment, reflecting consumer demand for enhanced safety.

The Indian SUV segment is witnessing rapid growth, with families increasingly seeking 7-seater options. This trend has prompted manufacturers like Toyota to innovate and expand their offerings to meet consumer preferences.

As the launch date approaches, more details about the specifications and features of the next gen Toyota Fortuner and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder are expected to emerge. However, details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact launch timeline and final specifications.
