The survey, which involved 50,000 women across more than 50 industries, revealed that 67% of women in India believe pay parity exists at their workplaces. While the majority of respondents expressed confidence in pay parity, 33% still believe there is a pay gap at workplaces. Interestingly, the survey highlighted that only 42% of women in the real estate sector believe in pay parity, suggesting that certain industries may still struggle with equitable compensation practices. Furthermore, the demand for equal pay audits and menstrual leave has risen significantly, from 19% to 27% in just one year, indicating a growing awareness and advocacy for workplace rights among women.

Another notable finding is that 50% of women reported hesitating to share personal plans regarding marriage or maternity during job interviews due to fears of bias. This statistic reveals the pervasive influence of gender stereotypes and the challenges women face in navigating their professional aspirations alongside personal life choices.

Challenges and Encouragement

Moreover, 42% of respondents cited bias in hiring and promotions as the biggest challenge faced by diverse women in the workforce. Despite these obstacles, the survey also found a positive trend: 83% of respondents feel encouraged to pursue leadership roles, a significant increase from 66% the previous year. “The fact that 83 per cent feel encouraged to lead is something to celebrate,” Singh remarked, highlighting the progress being made in empowering women to take on leadership positions.
