At present, Lt Gen Singh serves as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS), a role he has held since August 1, 2025. His extensive military career spans over 37 years, during which he has been involved in numerous operations, including Operation Pawan, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Rakshak, and Operation Orchid. His experience and leadership capabilities are expected to play a crucial role in his new position.

Successor to Lt Gen Katiyar

Lt Gen Singh will succeed Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, who is set to retire at the end of March 2026. His contributions have been recognized multiple times, including once with the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card and twice with the Army Commander’s Commendation.
