Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Leads India to Victory in Under-19 World Cup 2026
In a remarkable display of talent and skill, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored the fastest century in an Under-19 World Cup final, achieving 100 runs in just 55 balls, as India triumphed over England by 100 runs on February 7, 2026, in Samastipur, Bihar, India.
Sooryavanshi’s outstanding performance included a total of 175 runs off 80 balls, contributing significantly to India’s total of 411 runs for nine wickets. England, in response, managed to score 311 runs, falling short of the target. This victory marks a significant achievement for the Indian team, which has now claimed five major ICC titles, including the Men’s Under-19 World Cup.
In the final match, Sooryavanshi’s explosive batting was complemented by his ability to find the boundary, hitting 15 fours and 15 sixes. His efforts not only secured the win for India but also earned him the titles of Player of the Match and Player of the Series, highlighting his pivotal role in the tournament.
Caleb Falconer was a standout performer for England, scoring 115 runs, but his efforts were not enough to overcome the formidable Indian side. The match showcased the depth of talent in youth cricket, with both teams displaying exceptional skills throughout the tournament.
Prior to the World Cup, Sooryavanshi had also participated in the DY Patil T20 Cup, representing DY Patil Blue, although his team was eliminated in the semifinals. His journey in cricket has seen him meet notable players, including Ravindra Jadeja, during a training camp for the Rajasthan Royals, where Jadeja returned after a long absence from the team.
Following the World Cup victory, Sanjiv Sooryavanshi expressed immense pride, stating, “We are feeling very proud after winning the World Cup. Our country is happy, and everybody is celebrating this win.” This sentiment reflects the national pride associated with India’s success in cricket, particularly at the youth level.
As the cricketing world looks forward to the upcoming IPL season, set to begin on March 28, 2026, the spotlight will undoubtedly be on emerging talents like Sooryavanshi, who have already made a significant impact on the international stage.
With the Under-19 World Cup victory, India continues to solidify its position as a powerhouse in cricket, fostering young talent that promises to carry the legacy forward. The future looks bright for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and his teammates as they navigate their careers in the sport.
