Monalisa Bhosle marries Farman Khan

Monalisa Bhosle married Farman Khan on March 11, 2026, at the Nayanar Temple in Arumanoor, Kerala. The couple’s union is notable as it represents an interfaith marriage, with Monalisa being Hindu and Farman Muslim.

The couple first met six months prior during the ‘muhurat’ ceremony of a Malayalam film titled Nagamma. Despite their love, the marriage faced significant opposition from their families. Monalisa’s father did not attend the ceremony, expressing his discontent, while Farman’s family opposed the union due to religious differences.

In a statement, Monalisa shared her feelings about the marriage, saying, “My parents wanted me to marry my own aunt’s son, but I did not like that match. I chose to marry him (Mr. Khan).” Farman echoed her sentiments, stating, “Neither of us has changed our religion. She remains Hindu and I remain Muslim. In love, conversion is not necessary.” This perspective highlights their commitment to maintaining their individual faiths.

The marriage was legally registered through the Kerala government’s K-SMART app, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Farman also produced documents to counter claims regarding Monalisa’s age, affirming that she is of legal age to marry.

Despite the couple’s determination, the marriage has drawn public scrutiny. Monalisa faced allegations of ‘love jihad’, a term used in India to describe interfaith marriages perceived as coercive. In response, she sought police protection prior to the wedding, indicating the seriousness of the threats they faced.

Political leaders were present at the wedding, showing support for the couple amidst the controversy. However, not all family members were supportive. Jafar Ali, a relative, expressed his concerns, stating, “I am not happy with this marriage. She belongs to another religion while we are Muslim Jats. This will create problems in the family in the future.”

Farman’s family reportedly learned about the marriage through media coverage, underscoring the public nature of their union. Observers are keen to see how this marriage will impact both families and the couple’s future, as they navigate the complexities of an interfaith relationship in a culturally diverse society.

Monalisa Bhosle gained fame during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj in 2025, which has added to the public interest surrounding her marriage. As the couple embarks on this new chapter, details remain unconfirmed regarding their plans moving forward and how they will address the challenges posed by their families and society.
