Lakshya Sen Advances to Semifinals
Lakshya Sen has advanced to the semifinals of the All England Open Badminton Championships, defeating Li Shi Feng in the men’s singles quarterfinals. The match concluded with scores of 21-13 and 21-16, lasting a total of 45 minutes.
Sen’s victory marks a significant turnaround, as he ended a streak of three consecutive defeats against Li Shi Feng, who is currently ranked 6th in the world. In contrast, Sen holds the 12th position in the world rankings.
Throughout the match, Lakshya came out firing from the very first rally, showcasing aggressive play and sharp court movement. He dictated the tempo with crisp smashes and clever placement, maintaining composure during crucial points to take control of the contest.
This semifinal appearance will be Lakshya’s third at the All England Championships, having previously finished as the runner-up in 2022 and reached the semifinals in 2024. He will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between Victor Lai and Koki Watanabe.
Sen had entered the quarterfinals after a strong performance against Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus in the Round of 16, further establishing his presence in this prestigious tournament.
As the only Indian player remaining in the tournament following the retirement of the mixed doubles pair, Lakshya’s progress is being closely watched by fans and analysts alike.
Observers are keen to see how he will perform in the semifinals, especially after his impressive display against a higher-ranked opponent. Details remain unconfirmed regarding his next matchup, but anticipation is building for the upcoming clash.
