Historic Achievement
Annabel Sutherland has set a new record in women’s Test cricket with her century against India at WACA Stadium in Perth on March 7, 2026. This remarkable achievement marks her third consecutive Test century, establishing a world record in women’s Test cricket.
Sutherland’s scores in her three consecutive centuries are 210, 163, and 129, showcasing her exceptional batting prowess. She has now become the first woman to score hundreds in three consecutive Test innings, a feat that underscores her talent and consistency.
Match Highlights
In her latest innings, Sutherland scored 129 runs off 171 balls, hitting 17 fours. This performance not only contributed significantly to Australia’s lead in the match against India but also marked her fourth Test century overall. Sutherland’s best score in Test cricket remains 210, achieved against South Africa in 2024.
With a batting average of 89 in Test cricket and a total of 715 runs scored, Sutherland is now the eighth leading run-scorer for Australia women in Test cricket. Her impressive form has been a key factor in Australia’s success in recent matches.
Ellyse Perry’s Milestone
In the same match, Ellyse Perry became Australia’s highest run-scorer in women’s Test cricket, surpassing the 1000-run mark with a total of 1006 runs. Perry’s achievement adds to the significance of the match, which is also notable for being a Pink-Ball Day-Night Test and Alyssa Healy’s last international appearance.
As observers reflect on Sutherland’s historic performance, it is clear that her contributions have not only elevated her status in women’s cricket but have also inspired future generations of players. The cricket community is eager to see how she will continue to develop her game in the coming years.
