Arshdeep Singh Fined for Conduct Breach

Arshdeep Singh has been fined 15 percent of his match fee following a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand. This incident, which occurred in the 11th over of New Zealand’s innings, involved Singh throwing the ball aggressively towards Daryl Mitchell, hitting his pads.

The breach falls under Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses the inappropriate throwing of a ball or any other item of cricket equipment at or near a player. As a result of this incident, one demerit point has been added to Singh’s disciplinary record.

This marks Singh’s first offence in a 24-month period, indicating that he has maintained good conduct prior to this incident. The match referee, Andy Pycroft, proposed the sanction, which Singh accepted without contest. Consequently, there was no need for a formal hearing regarding the matter.

India emerged victorious in the final, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs to secure their third T20 World Cup title. The match took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the Indian team showcased a dominant performance throughout the tournament.

The ICC’s decision reflects its commitment to maintaining discipline and sportsmanship in cricket, ensuring that players adhere to the established code of conduct. Observers note that such fines are part of the broader effort to uphold the integrity of the sport.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any potential further implications for Singh or the Indian team following this incident. However, the cricketing community will be watching closely as the tournament progresses and as Singh continues his career.
