Andrey Santos Named in Brazil’s Squad for March Friendlies

Andrey Santos has been named in Brazil’s squad for March friendlies against France and Croatia. This inclusion marks a significant step in Santos’s career as he has earned a key role at Chelsea, where he is trusted for his ball-winning and transition abilities.
Notably, Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 79 goals, was omitted from the squad. Neymar has not played for Brazil since suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in October 2023, and his absence continues to be felt by the team.
The Brazilian squad for these friendlies includes 26 players, with Santos listed as a midfielder. His selection comes as Brazil prepares for its World Cup campaign, which will begin against Morocco on June 13.
Another notable player, Rayan, a graduate from Vasco, has also been selected for the squad. Rayan has made an impressive start in England, scoring two goals and providing one assist in seven games for Bournemouth.
“This list marks the final practical tests before the definitive World Cup call-up for the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada,” stated a source familiar with the team’s preparations.
Rayan’s performance has drawn attention, with reports highlighting his two goals and one assist in his initial matches in England, including a brace against Maricá.
Carlo Ancelotti, the coach, has praised Rayan’s power, quality, and attitude, indicating that he sees a bright future for the teenager with the national team.
As Brazil gears up for these friendlies, the focus will be on how the new talents, including Santos and Rayan, will perform in the absence of established stars like Neymar.
Observers are keen to see how these selections will impact Brazil’s strategy ahead of the World Cup, with many hoping that the inclusion of young players will rejuvenate the squad.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further changes to the squad as the friendlies approach.
