Ben Duckett Withdraws from IPL 2026
By Vikram Nair / 24.03.2026
Why has Ben Duckett decided to withdraw from IPL 2026? The England cricketer has made the difficult choice to focus on his international career, citing concerns about his recent performance.
Duckett, who was purchased for Rs 2 crore at the IPL auction, expressed regret for any disruption his decision may cause to the Delhi Capitals. “I have made the extremely difficult decision to withdraw from the IPL,” he stated.
During the recent Ashes campaign, Duckett scored 202 runs in 10 innings, which may have influenced his decision to prioritize his England career over participation in the IPL.
He further explained, “I want to apologise to everyone at Delhi that I won’t be coming. It was a very difficult decision, and I want to apologise to everyone at Delhi.” Duckett hopes to one day represent the Delhi franchise.
However, his withdrawal could have serious implications. If a player opts out of the IPL without injury concerns, they may face a ban of up to three years, potentially sidelining Duckett until the 2029 edition.
The decision comes at a time when Duckett is looking to solidify his place in the England team, especially after his recent performances in the Ashes and the T20 World Cup.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact nature of any potential ban or the impact on his future participation in the IPL.
As the cricketing world watches closely, the focus now shifts to how Duckett will navigate his career moving forward and whether he can regain form to secure his position in the England squad.
