The case against Ashok Kharat, a self-styled godman and astrologer, has intensified as police filed two additional rape FIRs against him. This development follows allegations that Kharat was involved in five instances of human sacrifice, raising significant concerns about his activities in Nashik, Maharashtra.

Kharat, who reportedly used plastic snakes and tiger skins to intimidate his victims, was remanded to five days of police custody by the Nashik District Sessions Court. The prosecution claims that Kharat’s actions have led to the suffering of approximately 1,500 women, who have come forward with allegations of injustice at his hands.

In the ongoing investigation, authorities uncovered assets worth around ₹40 crore linked to Kharat. Additionally, he has been found to have visited 13 different countries, raising questions about the extent of his operations. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also recovered a revolver, 21 cartridges, and ₹6 lakh in cash from his possession.

Trupti Desai, a prominent activist, has condemned Kharat’s actions, stating, “Ashok Kharat is a pervert. This perversion is eating away at the fabric of Maharashtra.” She emphasized that if individuals commit crimes, they should not be afforded protection.

During court proceedings, Kharat claimed ignorance regarding the use of snakes or tigers, stating, “I have no knowledge of snakes or tigers, I am hearing it for the first time.” This denial comes amidst serious allegations from the public prosecutor, who noted that there were suspicions of Kharat’s involvement in human sacrifice and illegal hunting.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to probe a pen drive containing videos of Kharat’s victims, which could provide further evidence against him. As the case unfolds, the implications of Kharat’s alleged crimes are being closely monitored by both the public and law enforcement.
