Hostel food often becomes a topic of debate regarding hygiene, trust, and accountability. Recently, a student at the University Institute of Technology, RGPV in Bhopal claimed to have found a lizard in his hostel meal, raising serious concerns about food safety.

The incident, which was captured on video and subsequently went viral on social media, shows the student questioning the unusual object in his food, asserting that it resembled a lizard. In response, a mess staff member insisted that the object was actually capsicum, even going so far as to eat it to prove his point.

The student, however, remained adamant, stating, “Bhai saab, yeh kya hai, dekh lo,” and further claimed that the object had a lizard’s eye. This dramatic exchange has drawn significant attention and sparked outrage among fellow students and social media users.

In light of the allegations, the university has formed a committee to investigate the matter. RGPV Director Sudhir Bhadoria assured that the health of students would not be compromised and that strict action would follow if any negligence was found.

The canteen operator has denied the allegations, maintaining that the item in question was indeed capsicum, referred to by the staff member as “Shimla mirch.” However, the conflicting accounts have left many in doubt.

As the investigation continues, observers are keen to see the outcome and whether any measures will be implemented to improve food safety standards in the university’s hostel mess.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the true nature of the object found in the meal, leaving students and parents concerned about the quality of food served in educational institutions.

When your defence strategy is literally to ‘eat’ the crime scene, it raises further questions about accountability and the importance of maintaining hygiene in food services.
