JioStar Takes Action Against Digital Piracy Ahead of TATA IPL 2026
“As the TATA IPL continues to scale up in unprecedented ways, our push is to assemble legends and heavyweights of the league together in our studios in a way that will offer a unique insider’s perspective to fans,” said Siddharth Sharma, a key spokesperson for JioStar.
This statement comes as JioStar dismantled a large-scale digital piracy syndicate operating an unauthorized IPTV service under the name BOS IPTV on the very day the TATA IPL 2026 season kicked off in Mumbai, India. The infringing platform had been providing access to over 10,000 linear channels and a library of more than 25,000 video-on-demand titles, attracting around 64,000 active subscribers.
In response to this illegal operation, JioStar filed a criminal complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. An FIR (No. 0005 dated 26 March 2026) was registered under multiple sections of Indian law, marking a significant step in the fight against digital piracy.
The website bostv.org, which facilitated the unauthorized service, has since been taken down by its operators. This action underscores JioStar’s commitment to safeguarding its content ecosystem and ensuring a fair viewing experience for fans.
As the TATA IPL 2026 unfolds, JioStar has also announced an impressive lineup for its presentation, featuring over 150 presenters and experts. The platform will cater to diverse audiences by offering fans 12 language options for viewing the matches.
Notably, renowned cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin will commentate for the first time in JioStar’s studios during this season, adding to the excitement surrounding the tournament.
The 19th edition of TATA IPL features players from three different generations, promising a thrilling experience for cricket enthusiasts. JioStar’s proactive measures against piracy are aimed at enhancing the overall viewing experience for fans during this high-stakes tournament.
As the tournament progresses, further developments regarding JioStar’s initiatives against piracy and its broadcasting strategies are anticipated.
