Wpl: RCB Claims Second Title in 2026 Final
In a thrilling conclusion to the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed over Delhi Capitals by six wickets, successfully chasing down a target of 204 runs with just two balls to spare.
This victory marks RCB’s second WPL title, following their previous win, and sets a new record for the highest chase in both WPL and IPL finals. The achievement is particularly significant as it is the first time any Women’s T20 final has seen a target above 175 successfully chased down.
Smriti Mandhana was instrumental in RCB’s success, scoring an impressive 87 runs off 41 balls. She received solid support from Georgia Voll, who contributed 79 runs from 54 balls. Despite an early loss of Grace Harris for just eight runs, RCB maintained their momentum throughout the match.
On the opposing side, Jemimah Rodrigues was the standout performer for Delhi Capitals, scoring 57 runs off 37 balls. Chinelle Henry also made a notable contribution, finishing not out with 35 runs from 15 balls.
Dinesh Karthik, reflecting on the match, praised RCB’s overall campaign and acknowledged the consistent performance of Delhi Capitals, who have now finished as runners-up in every edition of the WPL to date. Karthik stated, “That was an unreal WPL FINALS. RCB were just too good throughout the tournament.”
HD Kumaraswamy congratulated RCB on their achievement, saying, “Heartiest congratulations to @RCBTweets Women on winning the 2026 Women’s Premier League title and scripting yet another proud chapter in women’s cricket.”
Mithali Raj highlighted the leadership displayed by Mandhana and the team’s performance, stating, “Big moments, big leaders. @mandhana_smriti stood tall on the biggest stage, with excellent support from Georgia Voll, as RCB Women clinched their second WPL crown.”
With this victory, RCB has solidified their position in the league, while Delhi Capitals will look to break their final loss streak in future editions.
As the dust settles on this year’s tournament, observers are eager to see how both teams will prepare for the next season and whether Delhi Capitals can finally secure their first WPL title.
