Amritsar news: Two explosions occur near military installations in Punjab
Two separate low-intensity explosions occurred near military installations in Punjab within hours of each other. The first explosion took place around 8 pm outside the BSF Headquarters in Jalandhar. A second explosion was reported at approximately 10.50 pm near an Army establishment at Khasa in Amritsar.
Key details:
- Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were used in both incidents according to initial investigations.
- The first explosion involved a scooter parked near the BSF headquarters, which caught fire.
- The second explosion was heard near the boundary wall of the Army cantonment area on Khasa road.
- No casualties or major damage were reported from either explosion.
Punjab security forces, including police and Army personnel, swiftly responded to the incidents. They dispatched teams to investigate and assess the situation. Bomb disposal and forensic teams are collecting evidence from both sites.
Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police Sohail Qasim Mir noted that a tin sheet mounted on the boundary wall was damaged and fell due to the blast. However, officials have not confirmed the exact nature of the blasts yet.
The explosions are believed to be part of Pakistan’s nefarious designs perpetrated by its ISI, raising concerns about regional security. The National Investigation Agency teams are en route to assist with the investigation.
The situation remains tense as authorities continue their inquiries into these incidents. More information is expected as investigations progress.
