HYBE India Launches Nationwide Auditions for New Girl Group
HYBE has previously dominated global charts with boy groups and girl groups before expanding into India. In a significant move, HYBE India is launching a nationwide audition for a new girl group, aimed at showcasing local talent and authentic stories of Indian women.
The auditions are open to girls born between 2005 and 2011 and will run from March 31 to July 31, 2026. The process will take place in ten cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.
Participants are invited to showcase their talents in various areas, including vocals, rap, dance, acting, and modeling. This initiative is part of HYBE’s strategy to localize K-pop production and connect with the Indian market.
Damien Woochang Lee, the CEO of HYBE India, emphasized the potential of Indian talent, stating, “India has never lacked talent or ambition – what’s been missing is a consistent pathway to the global stage.” He added, “This audition is where that process begins.”
The decision to focus on a girl group was influenced by local research indicating a strong desire for relatable artists among young Indian women. Lee further noted, “What we are building is that bridge: a system that allows us to nurture artistes with intention, and to be seen, heard, and understood beyond borders.”
The audition campaign will be amplified through partnerships with notable brands like Samsung and H&M, enhancing visibility and engagement.
In addition to in-person auditions, there will be options for online submissions, ensuring wider accessibility for aspiring talents. This initiative marks a significant step in HYBE’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.
As the audition process unfolds, observers are keen to see how it will impact the local music scene and the representation of Indian women in the entertainment industry.
Lee has stated that HYBE India has built a systematic training and development system tailored to the local market, which will be crucial for nurturing the selected talents.
With the auditions set to begin soon, excitement is building among potential participants and fans alike, as they await the emergence of new stars from this initiative.
