match fixing — IN news
In

In a significant development regarding match fixing, the BJP National President has announced intentions to expose alleged collusion between the LDF and UDF in the upcoming Kerala elections. This statement has raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process in the state.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police have issued warnings about betting syndicates operating during the IPL matches. The police highlighted that these syndicates pose a serious threat to the integrity of the games, especially given the massive financial stakes involved.

In addition to betting concerns, organized gangs of pickpockets have been targeting spectators at IPL matches. Reports indicate that a total of 1,000 mobile phones were stolen during the entire 2025 IPL season, with 26 phones recovered from pickpockets in Bengaluru alone.

During one week of matches at Chepauk Stadium, 38 phones were reported stolen by a single gang. This surge in thefts has prompted law enforcement to increase their presence at matches to protect fans and maintain order.

On the esports front, Dmytro ‘nifee’ Tediashvili has been banned for four years due to match manipulation and betting-related corruption. His ban, which runs from 21 October 2025 until 20 October 2029, follows an investigation by the ESIC into unusual in-game incidents and suspicious betting activity during ESL Pro League Season 22.

‘Nifee’ admitted to the charges and cooperated with the investigation, highlighting the ongoing issues of integrity within esports. The ESIC stated, “Match manipulation and betting-related corruption represent some of the most serious threats to esports.”

These incidents underscore the broader challenges facing both traditional sports and esports, as they grapple with criminal elements attracted by the large sums of money involved.

As authorities continue to investigate these matters, the implications for both the IPL and the integrity of electoral processes in Kerala remain significant. The situation is still developing, and further updates are expected.

Details remain unconfirmed.
