Mukul Choudhary Makes IPL Debut for Lucknow Super Giants
Mukul Choudhary, a 21-year-old batter-wicketkeeper from Rajasthan, made his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants against Delhi Capitals on April 1, 2026. Choudhary was signed by the Lucknow Super Giants for INR 2.60 crore at the 2026 player auction, marking a significant step in his cricketing career.
In his debut season, Choudhary has already made an impression, having scored 210 runs at an average of 42 in seven T20 matches. His performance has been bolstered by an impressive track record in previous tournaments, including the 2025 Men’s U-23 State A Trophy, where he scored 617 runs at an average of 103, hitting 34 sixes, the most by any batter in the tournament.
Additionally, in the 2025/26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he continued to showcase his talent with 173 runs at an average of 57.66 in five matches. Despite having played only five List A matches with an average of 14.20, his potential is evident.
Choudhary initially started his cricketing journey as a fast bowler before transitioning to wicketkeeping, a move that has paid off well in his batting performances. His versatility on the field adds to his value as a player.
Justin Langer, a prominent figure in cricket, remarked on Choudhary’s potential, stating, “He could become the ‘scariest No.6 or No.7 batter in India in the next four months.'” This statement reflects the high expectations surrounding the young cricketer.
As Choudhary embarks on his IPL journey, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how he adapts to the pressures of the league and builds on his promising start. The cricketing community is eager to see if he can maintain his form and continue to impress in the upcoming matches.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding his immediate performance in the debut match, but the anticipation surrounding his capabilities is palpable.
