Nitish Rana Reconciles with Digvesh Rathi Ahead of IPL 2026
By Ananya Rao / 01.04.2026
Nitish Rana and Digvesh Rathi have reconciled just before the IPL 2026 match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, marking a significant turn in their relationship. This reconciliation comes after a fiery confrontation during the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, which had drawn considerable attention in the domestic cricket scene.
During the DPL 2025, Rana was fined 50% of his match fees for an obscene gesture, while Rathi faced a heavier penalty, being fined 80% of his match fees for conduct contrary to the spirit of the game. The incident highlighted the tensions between the two players, which Rishabh Pant helped to diffuse ahead of the IPL match, stating, “‘Bas ho gaya’: Rishabh Pant plays peacemaker to end months of animosity between Nitish Rana and Digvesh Rathi.”
Rana, who is set to play for Delhi Capitals after being traded from Rajasthan Royals, had an impressive performance in the DPL 2025, scoring a century in the Eliminator match. His team, West Delhi Lions, successfully chased a target of 202 runs, completing the chase in just 17.1 overs and winning by seven wickets.
Digvesh Rathi, retained by Lucknow Super Giants after a standout debut IPL season in 2025, had taken 14 wickets in 13 matches. The reconciliation between Rana and Rathi is expected to positively impact their respective teams as they prepare for the upcoming IPL season.
Rishabh Pant’s intervention was crucial, as he reportedly said to Rana, “Tu kaha ja raha hai? Bas ho gaya, (Where are you going? Enough).” This statement reflects the urgency and importance of resolving their differences before the high-stakes match.
Both players have shown their commitment to their teams, with Rana having captained the Delhi cricket team since November 2018. His leadership and performance will be vital for Delhi Capitals as they aim for success in IPL 2026.
In addition to his cricketing achievements, Rana’s personal life has also been in the spotlight; he married Saachi Marwah on February 19, 2019. Marwah, an interior designer and co-founder of a design studio, has been a supportive figure in Rana’s life.
As the IPL 2026 season approaches, the dynamics between players will be closely watched. The reconciliation between Rana and Rathi may set a positive tone for their teams, but uncertainties remain about how their past confrontation will influence their future interactions on the field.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the long-term implications of this reconciliation, but fans and analysts alike will be keen to see how both players perform in the upcoming matches.
