Earthquake in delhi just now
Before the recent seismic event, residents of Delhi and surrounding areas were not anticipating any significant geological disturbances. The region is known for its seismic activity, but the day had been relatively calm.
However, at approximately 9:50 PM on April 3, 2026, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, with tremors felt across Delhi-NCR and several parts of North India. The earthquake’s epicenter was located in Badakhshan province, at a depth of 150 kilometers.
Immediate reports indicated that strong tremors were experienced not only in Delhi but also in cities such as Noida, Chandigarh, and Srinagar. Residents reported sensations of shaking, with some stating that furniture and fixtures in their homes were rattled by the intensity of the tremors.
“I felt a strong jolt which lasted for a few seconds,” said Baldev Chand, a resident of Delhi. Another resident, Vaishali Poddar, remarked, “I’ve never felt tremors this strong before.” The intensity was such that many people were taken by surprise, highlighting the unpredictable nature of seismic events.
Despite the strong tremors, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties, which is a relief to the local population. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, but as of now, the impact appears to be minimal.
In addition to Delhi, tremors were also briefly felt in several cities across Pakistan, indicating the widespread reach of the earthquake. This event serves as a reminder of the geological dynamics of the region, where tectonic plates frequently interact.
Experts note that the Hindu Kush region is known for its seismic activity, and earthquakes of this magnitude can often lead to significant aftershocks. The depth of this earthquake, however, may have mitigated some of the potential damage.
As the situation develops, further assessments will be conducted to ensure the safety of residents and to evaluate any potential structural impacts. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of the earthquake’s effects.
